Review of Down in the Valley (2005) by Tomas T — 28 Feb 2010
Isn't it annoying when a film is fantastic throughout but then the ending takes away what could have been a classic? it's quite the case here unfortunately.
Edward Norton plays the character so convincingly that you can't help but like him. Then you start to sense that something is not right about that guy and you try to keep liking him but it gets harder. It's a case of is he misunderstood and harmless or does he know what he is doing but hides it well? I couldn't figure that out myself till that fatal scene with his lover, I think?
We are never sure if he Is plain crazy or if he is just so naive and really misunderstood. This film had a huge potential but the ending of the film takes away a big bite. However, sometimes it's about the journey and not the bigenning or the end and this is the case for this film.
