Review of Down in the Valley (2005) by Andrew H — 27 Jan 2009
A 2 and 1/2 to 3 star movie but I will give it the benifit of the doubt and give it 3 stars mostly because Edward Norton and Rachel Wood did a fine job with their parts. Rory Culkin wasn't to good and David Morse seemed to force his part just a bit but it wasn't as horrible as I thought it was going to be.
The cover is quite misleading as it looks like a good action movie but in reality it is more of a love story gone wrong. I didn't really connect with the story much and the theme of escapisim has never been one that I have enjoyed but it was a decent enough watch, and probably would have been better as a stand alone movie without the last half hour but even with the crappy ending and all the confusing questions still left unanswered it was ok for at least one viewing.
