Review of Doubt (2003) by Ryan Gibbons — 26 Sep 2010
A film of swelling brilliance that is made so by the brilliant performances from the brilliant actors. I really wanted to see this film when it first came out and I regret waiting so long to see it, I just never got around to it.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman gives one of the most interesting performances I have ever seen. Meryl Streep, probably the greatest actress of our time, plays a multi-dimensional character with nothing but ease, she truly makes it look easy.
Amy Adams also plays a very interesting character, her performance is just as brilliant as the others. Viola Davis does not have a lot of screen time, but she makes the best of what she has, and the result was an Oscar Nomination.
This is a very compelling film with some of the greatest performances of the decade.
