Review of Double Jeopardy (1999) by Jowell G — 09 Feb 2009
This movie is the flipside of 'Stay,'.
my previous viewing - where that thriller is obtuse, mysterious, disorienting, and unpredictable, this is your surface level, star-powered beach novel that requires you NOT to think about it. The level of stupidity and blind luck exhibited & experienced by these characters is mind-boggling, so best not use that part of the body. Enjoy the glitter instead - Ashley Judd grows into her role as a revenge-seeking wife/mother wrongfully convicted of murder (plus is a knockout in an Armani evening dress) while T.L. Jones does his 'Fugitive' marshal shtick as a grouchy yet likable parole officer who is still hopeless at finding anybody in a crowd (yet uncannily can locate a person in a city while driving down the street - twice!) This movie should come in a dispenser - use once and discard.
