Review of Double Indemnity (1973) by Matthew G — 02 Oct 2008
If a bunch of stoicly fedora-ed men's men dropping cheese-tastic lines to dames only referred to as "babies" or "angels" (it's a good thing all the women in the world aren't babies or angels, or else we'd all feel guilty reproucing) gives you a hard-on then Double Idenmnity is the movie for you.
A legal term hasn't been used for such a suspenseful title since "Subpoema!", another film noir classic. Sure, this movie is a must because it embodies the noir genre so completely, but one can only wonder how anyone who insists on using an extended metaphor about trolley cars in every conversation can take themselves seriously.
