The crime noir genre has not grown much from what people call its inception, Double Indemnity. The plot holds up, it seems familiar because obviously it has been ripped off many times. But the cast keeps this one fresh, particularly the relationship between MacMurray and Robinson.

As Macmurray drags himself into Stanwyck's mess as the audience, we suffer seeing him beign tailed by his best friend. I am a huge fan of the quick and snappy dialogue punctuated by the distinct black and whites, Wilder was visionary in seeing the style of this picture.

The score was actually great too, never usually notice it but it definitely seemed familiar, probably was ripped off too. And that may be a problem for others watching this, it all seems too familiar but keeping in mind that this film kick started the genre and actually still did it better than most, thanks in no small part to the cast, it holds up.
