Review of Double Indemnity (1944) by Vig S — 18 Oct 2008
Fred McMurray should have been bigger - his performance in this is great, even though I have no sympathy for his character. How many people would instantly be talked into a scheme for murder without being somewhat unhinged in the first place? Anyway.
Even though you know the inevitable outcome (from the very first scene, in fact), it's still thoroughly enjoyable to watch how the story unfolds. It has to be said, despite the strengths of the film, the two conspirators were complete and total idiots to meet 'inconspicuously' right in the middle of the supermarket.
They couldn't have looked shiftier if they had tried.
