Review of Double Indemnity (1944) by Ian P — 17 Dec 2011
Double Indemnity is another movie that goes into the "Billy Wilder was a half a century ahead of everyone at that time" file. But the problem with seeing Double Indemnity nowadays is that anyone who made Noir after this was copying off it weather they knew it or not. It changed the entire genre and in alot of cases you can tell people used this as a blueprint.
But it's still pretty damn good considering I knew where the movie was going from the first scene. Edward G. Robinson is gold!! Wilder and Raymond Chandler wrote some amazing dialogue for today's standards but back in 1944 people must've been losing there minds! "It's Neff, two F's like in Philadelphia".
