Review of Double Indemnity (1944) by M W — 03 Aug 2008
This movie is plain COOL! See MacMurray in a role quite unlike any other of his career. He is not comedic at all...rather he is smitten with Stanwyck and crosses nearly all lines to get what he wants. Stanwyck is THE femme fatale.
Double Indemnity is the mold onto which all Noir films that followed (that were worth their weight) owe their success. Simply a classic and recently re-released on DVD.
