Review of Dope (2015) by Antonio G — 16 Oct 2015
A- This movie not just suprised me for how orignial it was but because this is actually a great movie. Dope is the kind of film with a fast pace that has the great mix between a comedy and drama. First of all, the acting is fantastic with Shameik Moore as the lead that should be cast into more movie for how good he was playing a nerd that loves 90's hip hop culture and a guy that wants to do whatever he can to get into a great college and have a better future. Everyone else also gave really good performances that shows me how much of a suprise this film was. Dope has a really fast and creative pace with the great direction that makes everything feels hilarious and serious at the same time. The style that's so energetic and constantley keeps going because your so interested in these characters and wan't to see them. Dope is also a really thoughful film that gives out many morals like it doesn't matter what you are, if you apply yourself you can accoplish. Many other morals that some come off and conflicted but I can't mention them because they are spoilers. In the end, Dope is one of the biggest suprises of this year eith excellent performances, a creative and fast pace done by the great directon, editing and soundtrack because that soundtrack was awesome. Messages in this movie some feel conflicted and lot's of the vulgar content just feel forced but overall, this is a hilarious and serious drametiy showing us allot from the 90's, how these nerds get wrapped in this problem and have to solve it. Dope is one of the best and funnest movies of the year that is certainly worth checking out because Dope is awesome.
Rating: 87% and an A-.
