Review of Dope (2015) by Tor M — 19 Sep 2016
A modern "hood"-film where we follow a group of three young geeks. They are not the coolest people, but they are very smart and dig the golden era of rap music - this means a great soundtrack. They get involved in a gang that deal with drugs and they struggle to live both the straight and the illegal life at once.
OK story, nicely shot and mostly new faces on screen. It's quite intense at times but there is a solid dose of comedy all over the film. It's never a witty film, but it's not too serious either. Some threads turns into nothing other things works better.
A film that never really impress, still it's never uninteresting or bad work. it's someplace in the middle. The first film ever to accept bitcoins as payment at movie theaters, a nice touch.
6 out of 10 bitcoins.
