Review of Dope (2015) by Ben D — 04 Jul 2015
This joke has probably been done a million times by now, but whatever. The film Dope, was in fact, dope. It's a fantastic coming of age movie that jumps between seriousness and humor perfectly. I would be laughing in one scene then be worried about the characters' safety in the next scene and it didn't feel jarring or out of place it the slightest.
Good job Rick Fumuyiwa, good job. I want to see your other movies now. Anyway, back to the movie. The 3 main characters are all awesome. They're all funny and relatable in some way.They're all nerds and everyone has a little bit of nerd in themselves somewhere.
The film is like Superbad, if Superbad was set in Inglewood. How could you go wrong? This movie is fantastic and definitely seek it out.
