Review of Don't Look Now (1973) by The Critic ( — 11 Jan 2015
Nothing all that new or surprising of the story here, but 'Don't Look Now' is a remarkable exercise in the technical aspects of filmmaking. It's a beautifully photographed, scored and edited piece, with excellent performances from Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie as a couple trying to come to terms with the death of their young child.
Hugely influential and stunning to look at, the film is notable for delivering one of the most sensually intense sex scenes ever imprinted in celluloid, including cinema's first depiction of cunalingus.
