Review of Don't Look Now (1936) by David S — 14 Oct 2010
Firtsly I have to admit that the sound quality on my dvd was rubbish for this film (damn those free films in the paper!) so the dialogue seemd quite muffled throughout. However it was still possible to follow the film and appreciate the atmosphere Roeg was trying to create.
Sutherland in particular is great in the film (if only he would put the effort in these days) and this must have been very trippy in it's day. If you're expecting full-on horror then this isn't the film for you.
In fact the film is closer to The Shining with the build up of suspense and location terror. Apparently this was originally shown on a double bill with The Wicker Man. That must have been a hell of a show!
