Review of Don't Breathe (2016) by Bubbs R — 14 Jun 2017
Last year was a success for horror films, and this is an example of that. This film was such a great horror film. It was very intense and left you on your toes till the end. Stephen Lang was the standout performance in this film. He played a blind man trying to defend his house from robbers. Dylan Minnette and Jane Levy were also well casted as a couple of burglars trying to escape a crazy blind war veteran's house. The only thing I didn't enjoy were some of the other characters and the first 15 minutes. The character of Money, (the girls boyfriend) was super obnoxious and I didn't like his presence. I felt kind of relieved when he was killed. I was happy that he wasn't gonna be in the film any longer. The abusive parents were also obnoxious and forgettable. They didn't serve that big of a purpose to the film. The first 15 minutes were kinda boring with nothing happening. When Money dies, it gets way better and way more intense. The infamous "Turkey Baster" scene was in my opinion not as disturbing as people have said. It's said to be a super creepy weird scene and I didn't really like it was as people said. Overall, an excellent horror film from last year. A few Obnoxious characters and a boring first 15 minutes, but an excellent watch. Definitely check this flick out.
Rating: 8.8/10.
