Review of Don's Party (1976) by Matthew A — 27 Jan 2011
For such an iconic film, this sure was a let down. Mentioned now more for it's leftist political undertones rather than anything else, it was more an attempt at a drunken yobbo swingers party from the sticks of Sydney in the 70's than anything else.
The election being played out was as minor part of the story as humanly possible, almost an afterthought. The characters were on the most part borish, which leaves me wondering about the praise heaped on David Williamson.
It's left me scratching my head over all the fuss.
