Review of Donnie Darko (2001) by Ker Malkin G — 19 Sep 2013
And suddenly it all made sense. Other than Jake, I thought the movie was pretty much a train wreck. Not really as great as the majority claimed. There was so much ambiguity this film offered and in some way, I liked it 'cause it's not spoon feeding as you will, the occurrences that were transpiring, but it could also leave the average filmgoers confused as it's most likely a bit sophisticated for their taste.
I'm on the fence in this one. You don't really get it until you reach the end. Or that might not even be the case. It just depends on how fast you could muster on what was happening during the film.
Even reaching the end point of the film, you're still left with some unresolved questions (at least for me).
