Review of Donnie Brasco (1997) by Alvin A — 28 Mar 2009
Donnie Brasco appears like any run-of-the-mill mobster movie. What makes it stand alone is the addition of an FBI agent attempting to bring the mob down. Again, doesn't seem too original. However, as the movie progresses we see the toll this is having on Donnie.
Is bringing down this mob worth the problems he's having at home? Can he not have feelings for a man in an organization that treats him like his own son? How can he do his job when the government barely provides any assistance? A very good film that shows great acting talent from Depp and Pacino.
