A slow burning film. One with out a climactic end, one with few really intense moments... but instead a movie that relies on character interactions and relationships. It is long, steady, and after watching it you feel like you've spent years in Mike Newell's mafia. The movie shows off the dichotomous life that an undercover agent leads and the agony he must go through. On the one hand he is the playtoy of the FBI. On the other, he is making friends with, while essentially becoming, a gangster. Throwing an emotional kink into the whole thing is his deteriorating marriage, finally tearing from his continued absence.

I'm not sure what to think of Depp's acting in this movie. On the one hand, he feels a bit stiff and bland. On the other, he is performing in a role where I forget that I'm watching Johnny Depp. When I forget that I'm watching a famous actor (be it Depp or Clooney or whoever) I have to figure they're doing something right.
