Review of Donnie Brasco (1997) by James K — 03 Aug 2009
Wow, what a great movie. Johnny Depp's character was ultra smooth and Depp played his character with true perfection. Regardless of whether that was what the actual character was like. Furthermore, Al Pacino was also brilliant to watch and play his character with equal briliance.
He was a hard but lovable character which you could feel true sorrow for, towards the end of the movie. This movie was also gritty and didn't feel polished or refined, it had a quality that respected the time and place that the movie was set.
It was easy to understand why Johnny Depp's character would change throughout the course of the movie as he becomes a trusted 'wiseguy'.
