Review of Donnie Brasco (1997) by Mario D. G — 06 Mar 2011
Gangster films is not my most viewed genre but this must be one of the best I've seen. The two leads does a great job, while smaller roles also deliver. Anne Heche doesn't get much screen time, but when she is in vision she is amazing.
The story is fine and it develops so smoothly. Pistone gets deeper and deeper into the "wiseguy" life, and further away from his family life. It's painful to watch how much he change, and at a certain point his love for the mobb outshine his love for his wife and kids.
This flick got everything I want from an gangster flick. A true, deep and rugged story - well told by a great cast in gray and dirty city images.
