Review of Donnie Brasco (1997) by Brett H — 29 Oct 2013
Very well-made and interesting mob film that is far different from your typical shoot-em-up gangster movies and focuses far more on the characters and the world they inhabit. Johnny Depp and Al Pacino have great chemistry together and really hold the film together and give it a different edge.
There are some noteworthy violent moments, but it's the tragic undercover story of Depp's character that keeps you intrigued throughout. It's not quite Scorsese, but it's a great film and I wish Depp would go back to roles like this.
