Review of Donkey Punch (2008) by Ricky R — 03 Apr 2009
Average fare to say the least, this flick was a true let down. The characters all had their moments pf unbridled stupidity and the claustraphobic atmosphere was wasted by way of minimal tension. There was talk of some pretty inventive kills but none were really all that inventive.
.. and the gore was mostly in the form of molasis... but the kill the movie is centered around was one solid factor this film has going for it: it was forshadowed yet still came out of the blue because none of the characters really seemed like they were "killer" material.
But allow me to address some huge flaws: the girls... really? They were dumb. Doing dumb things at the absolute worst moments. Dumb. The guys were equally dumb. They honestly thought they'd coerce the girls to see things their way.
.. really? And when it seemed like they came to an understanding of what the girls silence would really cost... it turns out they didn't and they continued to play it iggnorant. And in closing... I just want to say that the glass door sequence was unintentionally hilarious.
Again... another instance of stupidity plaguing the characters of this well shot but sorely developed thriller.
