Review of Don 2 (2011) by Gideon K — 31 Dec 2011
Note: This is officially my first Bollywood review ever, and maybe my longest review ever.
If you watched the first film and you're impressed by it, then be prepared to be impressed once again. The action, the direction, the dialogues, the typical "overacting" scenes, the plot twists.....well, almost every aspect from the first film is brought to another level in this one, with "King" style. The fights are choreographed very well. Plot is unusual: Imagine watching Die Hard from the terrorists' angle. Maybe it's like Fast Five without cars, but a lot more bombs and explosions. In many ways, this movie reached Hollywood standards. And I got to be honest here, the romance in this movie is extremely complicated, very unusual for Bollywood. The songs, sadly, are sequels of the first film's songs as well. And sadly again, there are a few Mission Impossible wannabe scenes that I find extremely awkward, that doesn't suit the style of this movie..
However, one thing you must do before watching this film is watching the first one first. This film expects you to already know what happened before. And oh! Because "Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai", there will be a Don 3, foreshadowed by the motorbike in the end.
