Review of Domino (1982) by David W — 17 Oct 2009
DOMINO (2005).
Dir. by Tony Scott.
Cast. Keira Knightley, Mickaey Rourke, Edgar RamirezThis film is all style and no substance. I hate this style but Im sort of an undeclared Tony Scott fan, I think he is the best with this way of making films, I appreciate his talent and always seem to like his movies for some odd reasons. Dont hate me, this is one of my guilty pleasures.Domino is - sort of - based on a true story about a former model who becomes a bounty hunter and end up having a reality show about her job. Keira Knightley and Mickey Rourke give fairly good performances while Chirstopher Walken is fun, as usual.Everything is over-the-top here, the acting, the edting, the cinematrography and the action sequences but its definitely entertaining to me. Richard Kelly's script is confusing as hell with too many characters and subplot but it doesnt take itself very seriously. There is some kind of commentary about fame and Hollywood - with former Beverly Hills 90210 stars - and that stuff is good and funny in a way. It tries to be deep sometimes but it doesnt really work and it ends up giving you a headache out of dizziness created by all the confusion. Some - lots - may dislike it and its understandable but I appreciated every minute of it. Fun - sort of.
