Review of Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist (2005) by Katherine M — 01 Aug 2010
This was more interesting than I expected. I didn't even know this movie existed until it came on tv tonight. It's not a typical modern horror film meant to give you a good scare or impress with special effects.
It's more of a drama that makes you think about the kinds of horrors we live with every day and how we cope with them and why we cope with them that way. You certainly don't have to believe in God to get something out of the message at the end of the film and it was much more creative than I expected it to be.
Not a twist per se but a new twist on the stale good vs evil story and how "the devil" corrupts. The pace is pretty slow so you do have to get through the movie first ;) The characters aren't very well-developed and I didn't want to get to know any of them but I didn't feel like I wasted 2 hours because the overall message really made me think.
