I remember seeing this movie in the theatre, but until I just watched it again, I had no idea what it was about.
The movie stars Kathy Bates as the title character. Stephen King wrote the novel with her in mind after having met her on the set of Misery.
Dolores is accused of murder, after her employer of twenty plus years dies after a tragic fall down a flight of stairs.
State police Detective Mackey pursues this case because of Dolores not being convicted of her husbands murder some eighteen years prior.
The story follows the current event and the one eighteen years prior and what caused Dolores to want her husband dead.
It is a pretty powerful film. Directed by Taylor Hackford and starring Christopher Plummer, David Strathairn, John C. Reilly, & Jennifer Jason Leigh.
