Review of Dolores (2017) by Alex C — 29 Sep 2017
A very inspirational and well-paced film about an American icon who is still out there fighting the good fight. It is chock full of historical footage and interviews in a tight little package, so it's both a well-needed history lesson and good entertainment.
I think the only fault is that the film didn't really delve into Dolores' life too deeply aside from her status as a union and feminist pioneer - e.g, what was it like living as the farm workers did, what was her day-to-day parental role (aside from being pretty hands-off in general), and what was her take on her romantic relationships that produced 11 children? A more well-rounded portrait could have been fleshed out, but it's still a very good film.
On a side note: it was a real treat to have Dolores herself do a Q&A at the movie theater afterward...and she and her people came in and dined where we ate. She is still a remarkably active, spirited and inspirational soul who is a true American treasure!
