Review of Dogville (2003) by Olivier T — 02 Dec 2008
An unmissable film that mixes minimalism, allegory, theatre and literature into a hypnotic and fully satisfying mix. All of the performances are superb and the simple direction plays to its strengths; the lack of physical sets, enabling background characters 'invisible' to the actors can be seen by the audience, adds immensely to the tone.
Claims of anti-American prejudice are disengenuous.
