Review of Dogville (2003) by The3Academysins — 06 Mar 2019
Dogville is a film by Lars Von Trier that explores themes of humanity, goodness, tragedy, revenge, life, the underprivileged in rural America, and crime. Inventive and engaging, I ended up thinking about the themes of the movie long after the credits rolled.
Poignant, harrowing, but sometimes frustrating, Dogville almost seems more like a painting than a movie. I think some viewers will find that annoying and hard to get into, and if you're not into artsy films you might want to skip Dogville, but overall I think this is one of Von Trier's stronger pieces, and one that is definitely worth a watch.
