Review of Doghouse (2009) by Kadri K — 21 Jul 2011
This was a good movie, kind of a mix between a zombie/evil dead horror movie. Good amount of laughs during the beginning, starts to get a bit serious midway through but an enjoyable movie through out.
I enjoyed the cinematography, character development, and acting. Pretty neat premise on what it is that is happening in the town, I'm not saying that it's 100% original but it was explained enough to be satisfactory. Although now that I think of it there was one part they didn't put too much explaining into, well I guess I can just say it cause I don't believe it's a spoiler, but "the nest" that's all I'm gonna say. Anyways, unless it is left as an opener for some kind of sequel but this seems like more of a fun movie so I don't think they put that much thought into leaving things like that in the plot.
I do like the way they got rid of the cell phones, I'm always curious on how they are going to do that in a movie and not make it seem out of place. You know without the usual "I'm not getting a signal" or 'We are in a third world country' kind of deal. I often wonder what's going to happen to the horror genre when mobile phones are to the point of never losing signals...
Anyways if you are looking for a horror movie with some laughs mixed in definitely check this one out.
