Review of Doghouse (2009) by Andy G — 07 Apr 2014
I think it's a bit late to start praying, don't you?
A group of friends get together after one of them experiences a painful divorce. They head to a remote town in Europe only to discover all of the men are missing and all of the women are man eating zombies. Can the group of friends survive the zombie outbreak?
"What's your name again?".
"Call me Candy.".
Jake West, director of Razor Blade Smile, Evil Aliens, Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes, a segment of ABC's of Death, and the upcoming Spitfire, delivers Doghouse. The storyline for this picture is entertaining and fun to watch unfold. I liked the characters in their clumsy cliché way. The acting is pretty good and I enjoyed seeing Stephen Graham in something other than Boardwalk Empire. The cast also includes Danny Dyer, Noel Clarke, Lee Ingleby, Christina Cole, and Terry Stone.
"You fucking monkey's arse ring.".
Doghouse is a movie I grabbed because the plot sounded interesting and who doesn't love a good zombie picture. I did like some of the elements of this picture and loved the over the top make-up and villains. Overall, this is an entertaining film worth a viewing but far from a classic.
"I actually don't think I used that finger for anything.".
Grade: C+.
