Review of Doghouse (2009) by Jarrett M — 26 Dec 2011
Doghouse is an extremely entertaining and slightly flawed film, but well worth watching. The story has original elements to it, but at it's core it's quite familiar. The pacing is quite quick, on par with similar films and we actually get a little more character developement than expected.
The cast does a great job with their characters, doing a good job to help sell the story and make the characters seem realistic. The makeup and visual effects are very well done and provide us with a whole host of memorable 'zom-birds' to terrorize our boys.
This isn't a perfect film, but despite it's flaws, it is an entertaining ride that will provide at least a couple of laughs. If you like zombie films, British humour, and seeing blokes be blokes, you owe it to yourself to check this out.
If you expect a film on par with Shaun of the Dead, you'll probably be disappointed. This was good, but Shaun was better. If you're a raging feminist, especially one without a sense of humour, you will positively hate this film.
Too bad too, cause the joke really is on you.
