Review of Dog Days (2001) by Bomb C — 15 Nov 2007
Directed by Ulrich Seidl, this Austrian film focuses on life in a postmodern world. Mulitple stories used to examine the character types in a world like today. Imagine the character types of humans in a world without a drop of social consciousness.
From a solely trivial-ridden lady, to a couple who has major issues, each character is still unique yet their motives are run by the fact that their personal world is bland all-together. The cinematography is impeccable, reflecting sharp lines and solid framing.
The parallels between the filmic language and character plots need to be examined carefully in order to understand what Seidl is really trying to comment on.
