Review of Dog Day Afternoon (1975) by Kieran B — 03 Feb 2013
This true story adaptation of a botched bank robbery in Brooklyn stars Al Pacino in absolute top form, and is remarkably funny.
The fun is top-loaded, meaning most of the best bits come at the beginning of the movie. I was admittedly, slightly underwhelmed as a whole by the last half hour or so, but the performance of Pacino alone was enough to keep me involved in the film.
It touches on some interesting aspects, such as the sex change operation, that crime dramas don't normally go, and for that, this film is applaudable.
