Review of Dog Day Afternoon (1975) by Sujit O — 06 Dec 2014
A very different performance by Al Pacino this time around with a twist of humour added to his role, he plays it almost perfectly. The movie shows how a heist turns complete sideways by giving a complete inside look on how the story unfolds. However there is absolutely no action involved and the script takes full control here. With an actor as powerful as Al Pacino taking the lead role, we get to understand the character's personality all too well and before you know it you're supporting the bad guy for the win. Giving you moments of hope for Al Pacino's escape, the writers keep you hooked onto the story using this idea although we all know the eventual outcome of such situations. A smart movie which is very well written and acted.
A classic to be watched.
