Review of Dodsworth (1936) by Chris H — 05 Dec 2007
Vain wife wants a fling in Europe to prove to herself that she's not so old. Husband fights for her, but she is too vapid to realize she would never fit into European society as anything more than a plaything.
Nice character study, but it's a bit dated. Divorce today isn't the scandal that it was in 1936, and the destructive whirlwind that an affair can be has been treated more compellingly since then.
