Review of Doctor Zhivago (1965) by J B — 23 Sep 2008
Ehh.. I'm not impressed. I guess it was "epic" for its time, but I was bored to tears through most of it. Julie Christie really wasn't a very good actress, from what I could tell. It doesn't help that I know next to nothing about the Russian revolution and Bolshevism so I didn't quite "get" all the double-speak and why everyone had names that didn't seem to be code names but which weren't their actual names.
In any case, all that aside, it just did a very poor job of holding my attention. I'm not sure why it's considered a classic.
