Review of Doctor Zhivago (1965) by Daniel W — 10 Jan 2009
Big, expensive, melodramatic, sentimental, and everyone who is supposed to be Russian speaks with a British accent. But the film nevertheless effectively develops a vast, complicated, and visually enticing world, and works as a reasonably decent examination of the way relationships in that world come together, only to be rent asunder by social forces (war, Marxist revolution, etc).
