Big technicolor epics are kinda like prog rock: they're pretentious, often stupid, but sometimes they're just what you want. This was a very visually-beautiful example, and most of the acting was terrific, though I wasn't quite convinced by the Zhivago-Lara love story.
Still, it satisfied the craving.
