Epic in length and scale - the story is set to a time of great political significance in Russia - Doctor Zhivago is awfully long at more than three hours. The romance does not really pick up until about two hours.
The characters are very well realised and the story is fine, but that's not enough to fully recommend the time it takes to watch this.
