Review of Doctor Zhivago (1965) by Mloy X — 25 Nov 2011
I'm a little perplex. I kind of like and dislked this movie. I like the esemble, they all gave fairly credible performance but I can't help feeling the acting to be a hint campy as well. Also, the film ran a little long or too slow for me and some scenes were a little vague or confusing.
I appreciate a beautifully shot film as much as the next person but when the cinematography just drags on and not really say anything, it just make the film too boring. The characters were great and I actually sympathized with their struggles, which is what made the film vastly interesting even with its lengthy 3 plus hour running time.
Overall, as a classic, definitely a film to check out; unfortunately, not an instant favorite for me.
