Review of Doctor Who (1996) by Greg R — 08 Jul 2007
This US-friendly 1996 re-vamp is a hugely frustrating watch, getting all the little details spot on but all the big themes hopelessly wrong. The mystery element is entirely wrecked by wrong-headed attempts at TV series continuity, and the committe-written script implodes horribly.
McGann is great, though, as is Roberts in a hugely underrated turn as arch-villain The Master.
