Review of Doctor Who (1996) by Ross B — 11 May 2013
Though not terrible, this movie adaption could have and should have been much better. The main let-downs are the story and cgi effects, they are rather awful. Had this movie succeeded in rebooting the series I would loved to have seen Paul McGann reprise the title role, he suits it perfectly.
Eric Roberts is also really good as the master. It is such a shame that the movie wasn't better constructed as it had the potential to spark new life into the series. Perhaps a future Doctor Who movie will improve on this one's flaws.
