Review of Doc Hollywood (1991) by Iain R — 17 Dec 2008
I love Michael J. Fox and love some of his poorer movies, but this one is barely tolerable: first, Michael J Fox is supposed to be a jerk at the start of the movie, but... he's Michael J Frickin Fox.
He can't pull it off because he's too lovable in general. His character arc is also truncated and implausible. The second thing with this film is the script, which cuts corners and sets the action over such a tiny timespan that the two protagonists falling in love is not only unlikely but near impossible.
Basically, this movie cuts too many corners to get to its conclusion, despite Michael J Fox.
