Review of Do the Right Thing (1997) by Steven C — 15 Oct 2009
Whip-smart funny, incendiary and morally ambiguous, Do the Right Thing is Spike Lee's masterpiece. The racial issues at hand are addressed rather bluntly, but unlike the similarly blunt Crash (which I watched again recently), I never felt preached to.
And the near-surrealist color palette and propulsive Public Enemy soundtrack make the whole thing a joy to watch and hear.
