Do The Right Thing: so simple and it never seems to works out. Spike Lee really does racial tension justice here, but it doesn't speak well for itself. Everything seems so good in this community. Sure, people have their disagreements, but you have it over words, not baseball bats.
It's a terrifying film, in the end, to see people go so far beyond common sense, and do the thing that feels right, but works out so wrong. Don't they realize their hurting themselves when they hurt others? I love the world that Lee creates here: a living, breathing community of people trying to live their lives and overall get along.
It is so scary to see how easy a situation can go from bad to barbaric. And what are you left with? A burned down corner of your home, and debris dirtying up the streets. Nobody gets anything good out of that.
Can't say enough, how well this story is told: it's perfect.
