Review of Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing (2006) by Tom D — 14 Aug 2007

This documentary gave great insight into the scandel that surrounded the Dixie Chicks when Natalie so eloquently proclaimed that "they were ashamed that the President was from Texas"... I must start this by saying Thank you!!! Thank you Natalie for having the balls to say what everone was thinking but was to scared to say it!!! This documentary doesn't focus so much on the specific events of that day and the immediate fallout but rather shows those events and then shows the trials and tribulations the Chicks had to deal with over the next 3 years.

. After watching this film I must applaude the Chicks for having the courage and strength of conviction to stick together and stand their ground. So many in their crew wanted them do things they did not want to do to make up for this mishap and they wouldn't, they weren't gonna kiss everyones ass to get back that number one spot, they wanted to keep their integrity and they did!!! This was probably not the best documentary I have ever seen but it was moving none the less and if you're like me you were on their side from day one when Bush was elected into office!!! I also loved how the film ended on a somber note that the Chicks really didn't know where their career was going to end up after the completion of their new album "Taking the Long Way".

.. well everyone put it this way, 2 Grammy's later and numerous other awards, meant the Chicks made all the right choices...
