Review of Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing (2006) by Michael R — 10 Dec 2008
It's a really great documentary--although the point of view is never really hidden. This is a pro-chicks documentary. Natalie Maines is not always portrayed exactly positively, but she certainly shines through much of the film.
It's really weird to watch this now and think about how insane the backlash against the Dixie Chicks was--and just how little time has actually passed. Their career will undoubtedly never be the same--IF they ever release another album.
The power of public backlash is on full display here and it's fucking terrifying.
