Review of Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing (2006) by Ben T — 29 Jan 2012
I'm not a huge fan of the Dixie Chicks previous musical releases before "Taking the Long Way" and Natalie Maines admittedly put her foot in her mouth but the American reaction is what made me sick. This is why I wanted to see this documentary. The Dvd lacks extras and the production of the film was so-so but being a fan of music is what made this interesting to me. I don't like the way the media is so involved in popular artists life, I'd prefer to let the artists say what they're going to say, play their music and we can love it or leave it.
Dixie Chicks fans will like this documentary because it has a lot of their music and performances in it, liberals will love this film because Natalie Maines cusses out bush a few times and fans of music would enjoy this film for they simple fact that they get to see a band go through the process of creating a record. I'd love to see a documentary made for more artists in their "making of" process as an album is created and released.
